Privacy

A child can start practising with nothing personal asked. When a parent saves the progress, they create the account and give consent. We keep only what the practice needs, never show ads or sell data, and you can ask for a copy of everything or have it deleted.

Last updated . This is version 2026-10 of the notice, the one parents agree to in the product.

The short version

  • Kiwimath is for children from Class 1 up to the maths olympiads. A child can start straight away as a guest: we ask for no name, no email and nothing else personal.
  • A guest’s answers and progress are stored under a random ID that is not linked to a name, an email or an address. If no one saves them to an account, they stay with that browser only.
  • When a parent saves the progress, they create the account and give consent first. From then on we store the parent’s sign-in, the child’s nickname if you add one, class and level, their answers and progress, and the consent record.
  • No ads, no advertising or analytics trackers in the product, and no selling or sharing of a child’s data.
  • Write to hello@kiwimaths.com for a copy of your data or to delete the account.

Who this covers

This notice covers kiwimaths.com: the public pages and the signed-in product (practice, progress, the parent view). Kiwimath is used by children from Class 1 to Class 12, most of them under 18, so we treat every learner as a child and every account as a parent’s account.

What we store

WhatExamples
A guest sessionBefore any account exists: a random ID made by our sign-in provider, the class and level chosen, and the answers and progress below. No name, email or contact details.
The parent’s sign-inAn email address, or a Google account, used only to sign in. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and never seen by us.
About the childA nickname (we suggest one that is not a real name), their class, and the level they practise at.
LearningAnswers, hints opened, skills mastered, review dates, streak, coins and puzzle results.
ConsentThe date the parent gave consent and the version of this notice they agreed to.
SettingsThe level, and whether celebrations and sound are on.
ReportsIf you use “Report a problem”, the question and what you wrote.
Server recordsLike every website, our server logs each request: the time, the page or action, the internet address and the browser type. We use them in totals to keep the service running and to count usage, and keep them for up to 13 months.

What we never collect

Date of birth, photos, audio, location, contacts or browsing history. We don’t ask for a school name or a phone number for the child.

Why we use it

  • To pick the next problem at the right level and save your child’s place.
  • To show you, the parent, how your child is doing.
  • To find and fix broken questions, and to count, in total, how the product is used. We look at totals, never at one child’s behaviour to target them.

We never use a child’s data for advertising, never build an advertising profile, and never sell or rent data to anyone.

What other people can see

Nothing about your child is shown to other learners. Kiwimath has no public rankings. If we ever add them, they will show a nickname and never a real name, and we will update this notice before they start.

Your browser

When you sign in, our sign-in provider keeps a sign-in token in your browser’s local storage and IndexedDB, so you stay signed in. The site also remembers a few small choices on your device, such as settings for this screen. None of this is an advertising cookie, and none of it follows you to other sites. Because we use no non-essential cookies, there is no cookie banner.

Counting visits

The product (practice, progress, the parent view) has no analytics script at all. We learn how it is used from our own server’s records of requests, looked at in totals.

On public pages only, such as this one, we may use a cookieless page counter (Cloudflare Web Analytics). It counts page views without cookies, without personal data and without following anyone across sites.

Where it is kept

Accounts and progress are stored with Google Firebase and Firestore, and our server runs on Google Cloud in Mumbai, India. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Only the Kiwimath team can reach it, and only to run and fix the service.

Your rights: copy and delete

As the parent, you can:

  • Get a copy of everything we hold about your child and you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong. The nickname, class and level can be changed in the product.
  • Delete the account and all its data. Deletion is complete within 30 days of your request.
  • Withdraw consent at any time. That closes the account.

Write to hello@kiwimaths.com from the email address on the account. Self-serve copy and delete buttons in the parent area are on their way.

Children and the law

Kiwimath is built in India for families in India and elsewhere. We follow the principles of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023: consent from a parent or guardian before a child’s data is processed, no tracking or behavioural monitoring of children, and no advertising aimed at them. We also follow the principles of the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) for children under 13: a parent’s consent first, only the data the service needs, and the parent’s right to review and delete it.

Changes and contact

If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and ask for consent again in the product before the change applies to your child. Questions or requests: hello@kiwimaths.com.
