Beast Academy alternatives
Beast Academy is one of the most loved problem-solving curricula for Grades 1 to 5, and if it works for your child there is little reason to switch. Families look for alternatives when it stops (after Grade 5), when it needs too much parent time, or when the child is on a phone. Here is how the other options compare, with sources.
The comparison

When Beast Academy is the better choice
- Your child is in Grades 1 to 5 and loves stories: the comic-book guides make hard ideas friendly, and few products do that as well.
- You want a full, ordered curriculum that replaces school maths, not practice alongside it.
- You have time to sit with your child. Reviewers repeatedly say it needs a lot of parent involvement, which suits some families well. (source: Brighterly, Homeschool Picks)
- Your child works on a computer or tablet rather than a phone.
Why families look elsewhere
It stops at Grade 5
Beast Academy covers Levels 1 to 5. After that, the next step is a different catalogue of courses, and nothing is aimed at India’s olympiad path (IOQM, RMO, INMO).
It asks a lot of parents
Because parents choose the lessons and often explain them, it works best with an adult nearby. Some parents also want more practice on the basics than it gives. (source: Brighterly)
Phones
Its own FAQ does not recommend phones. For many Indian families the phone is the main screen. (source: Beast Academy)
The right alternative depends on the reason
- A gap in school maths: Khan Academy, which is free and follows the school course.
- A teenager who likes ideas more than exams: Brilliant.
- A child who needs a patient person more than more problems: a tutor, such as Cuemath.
- A student writing RMO proofs: a coach or mentor who can read written solutions.
- Olympiad-style problems from Class 1 that keep going after Grade 5, on a phone, picked for your child: that is what Kiwimath is built for.
What Kiwimath does not have yet
To be fair in the other direction: Kiwimath is young and in early access. It has no comic-book guides and no printed books, no live teacher, and no IMO level yet. Our upper-level questions are still being checked; every question has a “Report a problem” button, and we fix or remove what we cannot stand behind.
Try a problem

Questions parents ask
Is Kiwimath a Beast Academy replacement?
For some families. If you want olympiad-style problems that carry on past Grade 5, on a phone, without choosing each lesson yourself, yes. If you want Beast Academy’s comic-book guides and its full curriculum for Grades 1 to 5, no.
What comes after Beast Academy Level 5?
Beast Academy’s own next step is Art of Problem Solving’s courses. In India, the olympiad path from Class 8 is IOQM, then RMO and INMO; Kiwimath’s Levels 4 to 7 are built around that path. IOQM preparation.
